Kinja'd!!!

This: A 2015 Chevrolet Colorado.

I spotted it in one of the student parking lots while walking to my car. I had to do a double take due to me not even knowing they had been released yet. This one didn't have temp. tags, either! I swear I haven't been living under a rock. ...though all this engineering homework would make some believe otherwise.

It was surprisingly large to be considered a compact pickup. I guess the definition of compact has changed in the past two years.

Kinja'd!!!

Thankfully the look changed, too, as this generation is miles better looking than its predecessor.

Kinja'd!!!

I quite like that face.

Good job, Chevy.

I believe they're both built in the same factory, so I would think they use the same platform.

It's pretty much the same size as a full-size Chevy from three generations ago.

2015 Colorado crew cab short-bed 4x4:

Length: 212.7"

Width: 74.2"

Height: 70.6"

1998 Chevrolet K1500 extended cab short bed 4x4:

Length: 237.4"

Width: 76.8"

Height: 70.8"

The size is due to the Colorado being a midsize truck now, like the Tacoma.

It's finally gone on sale as of a few weeks ago and seems pretty nice, though an airbag recall was issued not long after the first ones made it to dealers IIRC.

As much as I complain how big trucks have become, I'm glad to see this. If I ever decided to get a pickup, I would pick this.

Wow, that's crazy. Pickups are following the same trend as sedans.

For example, a 3 series is now the size of an original 7 series. Insane.

BMW F30 3 Series (GT)

Wheelbase: 115.0''

Length: 186.4''

Width: 71.3''

Height: 56.3''

BMW E23 7 Series (US Specs)

Wheelbase: 110.0''

Length: 197.4''

Width: 71''

Height: 56''

While it may be the size of a previous gen midsize, Chevy classifies it as a compact.

I actually really like it. It looks good, is economical, and is a more usable package. The old one really wasn't large enough to do anything.

I just want the Ranger to follow the trend and come back!

Nope, Lynchburg. The owner did drive all the way to Christiansburg to get it though!

I was about to say. I know that Motor Mile sticker anywhere. It is a nice looking truck. Much better than the previous generation.

Yeah, the Motor Mile is famous around these parts isn't it? It still amazes me the inventory they carry.

It's two and a half feet shorter by those stats.

Whoops, good catch. That must've been the specs for the long box (8'). This one and others say 218.0", so it must be the spec for the short box (6.5'). The numbers still don't add up though, because that's a 19.4" difference when it should be 18".

I also acknowledge that I compared the extended cab C/K with the crew cab Colorado, though the length spec for the Colorado is with the 5.2' short bed.

My guess would be the extra 1.5 feet of interior space is in the bed, so there would probably be a little more thickness added in somewhere to make the extension stronger.

I would think the extended cab C/K would be more useful than the extended cab Colorado.

What's the specs on weight?

That generation of Silverado is my favourite, so I'm okay with it being that size.
